Cold Forming & Zinc Plating of a Steel Pin for the Conveyor Industry

A customer in the conveyor industry was in need of a pin which was to be an integral part of their conveyor systems. The size of the pin and volume required dictated that cold forming be performed on our ¼" one die, two blow National cold header. The customer supplied drawing called out for the use of 1022 steel and required dimensions of 1.028" in length, with an outside diameter of .1720". Featuring zinc plating, it also required tolerances of ±.001" for each annual run of 12 million pins.
